Final Project: Photography Series

Hello Students,
For your final photography project you will create a photography series. Your series should have a theme that can be seen in all of your final imagery. The theme is up to you, it could be a commentary on social issues, a color, a style of dress, a design principal, etc... choose a theme that will give you artistic freedom yet ensure a solid final result.

Photography Series Final:
Choose a theme and shoot as many photographs as you can to capture that theme. You should be shooting everyday with whatever camera you have available. Project is due on day of final for critique.

Project Specifications:
  • Create 12 final images that match the theme for your project
  • Write a 1 paragraph artists statement about your work
  • Post a contact sheet of all images taken, you should shoot 200 - 300 images to pick your final images from
  • Make your images interesting, shoot from different angles, or consistent angles depending on your goals
  • Enhance your images for aesthetic effect
  • Your image collection will be critiqued on the final day, make sure you are proud of your work!
Examples of Photo Series for Inspiration:
François Brunelle - Portraits of people who look alike but aren't related at all
Camilla Catrambone - Portraits of My Family

Example - Visual Cultural Anthropology Series by Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyytebroek:
How unique are we? The image below is a collage of contradictions, each claiming a unique personal and rebellious style, yet the similarities are evident when compared side by side.
